the HORROR

I scared susan with these quotes today but since i typed them up, i felt like sharing with everybody.. These are from "sat for dummies" from a letter by a girl from san diego who got into stanford.

"First, you should start studying early. i made a late start, not opening an sat prep group until 5th grade. i would advise you to begin in kindergarden, in order to get an extra edge over you peers. one of my friend's parents played sat verbal tapes to her while she was in the womb."

"also skip doing any hw whatsoever during high school in order to focus all your free time for studying for sat. you know free time : what you have left over after you've won the olympics, toured the world with the prague symphony archestra, joined 80 clubs, started you own business, saved the world..and of course got the 30 min of sleep you require nightly."

"good luck and remember- have fun! don't worry at all about the pressure to do well in these 3 most important hours of your life"

Sorry if this raised anyone's panick level. Here's something to cheer you up-

"I know, I know the only aerial view you'd like to have of the SAT is the one you see from 20,000 feet up as a jat takes you far, far away from this test. use the info in this book correctly, and you can ace the SAT, go to a top college, and get a great job- and then buy your own private jet and buzz the high school when the SAT is being given. Hey, it's something to aim for."-author of the "for dummies" books. [she's a woman!]
